During the Ashoka changemaker week in Paris last week there was one particular social entrepreneur that still remains in my mind. He gave a short intro during one speaker session. His name is Arnoud Raskin, Founder of Mobile Schools and Streetwize. Mobile Schools develops innovative education programs that enhance the qualities of resourcefulness that underprivileged children acquire in the streets. In this way he restores their self-esteem, a fundamental step toward successful social and professional integration. He then goes and transmits what he learns from underprivileged children to business leaders through Streetwize, the leadership training operation that helps economically sustain his business.
The mobile schools are really mobile. They ‘go’ where these children live: on the streets and offer so much that helps these children: reading skills, mathematics, health relevant information and more.
