From all those years of study, at school, university, professional courses – by the things I remember – what do I retain? Not much. But some moments, a random fact or snatch of memories comes back and make me think. Some phrases, some impressions, questions, reactions.
Small pieces that one by one formed my knowledge, my way of thinking. How many projects, digital works, business experiences and meetings in many different locations. Only a few of them were really decisive – at a first glance. Most of them gained importance only by adding them in a retrospective way. What, if we had not discussed, shared, learned, failed, retried, knew each other…
The same happens by stumbling through websites and blogs. All of these information pieces are just reflecting very small pieces of thinking and information. But it helps to recognise trends, getting new aspects and perspectives.
What about taking into consideration business driven marketing activities? The single website among millions of other websites, the digital campaign, the potential Big Bang often promised by doing this or that… It is not the single coin that counts, but the sum of them which creates success.
Do you know this feeling when you are too lazy for the gym lesson? Just skipping it once… What difference does one day make? It will not really make you less healthier. But neither the 5 hour super training tomorrow will regain and make you fit for ever.
It’s the continuity of doing and the various points of view which make the difference.
What does this mean to you as a (social) entrepreneur and your marketing activities?
If your marketing activity should be successful, if you want to scale up your business, if you want to become an expert in a certain area, it is seldom the Big Bang approach deciding on your success. Especially, if it should be a long term success. It is not about putting all your efforts in one single activity. It is not the super expensive website neither the participation in the top conference in the super city.
But just the regular and continuous work of small activities in various areas, networking and socializing, just the art of collecting single pieces and adding them to the puzzle. Like small pieces along your way which makes the difference.
Let’s go and add our piece also today.
